Overall Objectives
Provides comprehensive technology support to Yinghua Academy students, staff, and families while assisting with the management, deployment, maintenance, and repair of the school's technology systems and hardware. The IT Support Specialist helps ensure the reliable operation of school technology, supports technology-related events and initiatives, maintains hardware assets, and provides responsive customer service to the school community. The position also supports daily school operations through assigned supervision and event duties.
Principal Roles & Responsibilities
Technology Systems & Device Support
  • Supports the administration and daily management of Google Workspace through Google Admin Console.
  • Utilizes JAMF and SMART Board MDM systems to deploy, configure, monitor, and manage student and staff devices and interactive displays.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for laptops, desktops, iPads, interactive displays, charging carts, and other school technology.
  • Assists with user account, device, application, and access issues and escalates complex problems as appropriate.
  • Provides professional and timely technical assistance to students, staff, and families through the help desk, email, phone, and in-person support.

Hardware, Asset & Inventory Management
  • Leads the annual labeling and organization of student and staff technology assets, including laptops, iPads, and mobile charging carts.
  • Maintains accurate technology asset and inventory records and supports the tracking, assignment, and return of equipment.
  • Diagnoses and performs physical repairs on laptops and desktop computers when appropriate.
  • Manages warranty claims, repairs, replacements, and related vendor communications.
  • Maintains, organizes, and repairs mobile charging carts throughout the school year and ensures equipment is available and functional.

Audio/Visual & Event Technology Support
  • Maintains classroom and mobile audio/visual equipment, including wired and wireless microphone systems and audio amplification equipment.
  • Provides technical support for school events and activities, including concerts, graduation, and other after-school events.
  • Supports microphone setup, audio/visual equipment preparation, and video recording for events as assigned.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves audio/visual issues before and during events.

Automation & Technology Improvement
  • Develops and maintains scripts and automated processes using tools such as PowerShell, Python, and Google Apps Script to improve efficiency and reduce repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline technology-related processes, improve data management, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Supports the implementation and responsible use of emerging technologies and AI tools in an educational environment, including platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM, and Canva AI.

Network & Information Technology Support
  • Administers and supports school network, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP connectivity, NAS systems, and other network-connected technology, including troubleshooting and resolution of connectivity and systems issues.
  • Assists with NAS administration and other technology infrastructure as directed.
  • Performs basic network troubleshooting and assists with identifying and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Implements and maintains appropriate information security practices and assists with security hardening, access controls, and other technology security measures as appropriate.

School Operations & Supervision
  • Participates in assigned school supervision duties, including morning arrival, recess, and dismissal.
  • Supports school operations and special events as assigned.
  • Maintains flexibility to provide technology and operational support in response to changing school needs.

Communication & Customer Service
  • Provides professional, patient, and responsive technical support to students, staff, and families.
  • Communicates clearly regarding technology issues, service requests, repairs, and expected resolution timelines.
  • Collaborates with school staff, vendors, and other members of the administrative team to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises appropriate discretion when working with student, employee, and organizational information.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • Experience providing technical support in a school or other multi-user environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience supporting audio/visual systems, including wired and wireless microphone systems and audio amplification equipment.
  • Experience with Google Workspace and Google Admin Console preferred.
  • Experience with JAMF or similar mobile device management platforms preferred; ability to learn and manage SMART Board MDM software.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and Wi-Fi, and basic NAS administration.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Google Apps Script, or similar scripting and automation tools preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in high-volume technology asset management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems systematically and communicate solutions effectively to technical and non-technical users.
  • Interest or experience in implementing and supporting AI tools in an educational environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, vendors, and school leadership.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support specific after-school events, including concerts and graduation.

Physical Requirements
