The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging, standardized training programs and resources that support operational excellence. The Instructional Designer will develop new training for specific programs and maintains and adjusts previous trainings as needed. This role partners closely with subject matter experts, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into effective learning solutions that improve performance, consistency, and outcomes. The Instructional Designer consistently demonstrates solid organizational skills, time management, and professionalism.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Partner with SMEs, leadership, and stakeholders to identify training needs and define learning objectives
  • Translate complex processes and business rules into clear, actionable learning content
  • Create multimedia aspects of training content such as gamification techniques, video, audio, infographics, handouts, worksheets, presentations, and instructional guides
  • Create storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Select most effective instructional approaches to create a blend of instructor-led and/or self-directed techniques for a particular learning need and by applying adult learning concepts
  • Define learning objectives for courses and resources that are measurable, observable, and specific
  • Ensure training content aligns with operational standards and supports consistent execution
  • Upload, organize, and maintain training content within the LMS
  • Manage course, updates, 508 compliance, and version control to ensure accuracy and accessibility
  • Develop and implement methods to measure training effectiveness (e.g., assessments, surveys, performance metrics)
  • Analyze feedback and data to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement
  • Support trainers and Operations teams in their preparation to deliver instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, and coaching sessions
  • Ensure all training materials remain current, accurate, and aligned with standardized processes and business rules

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and developing a variety of learning solutions.
  • Task analysis experience and the ability to translate complex processes and requirements into easily understood terms.
  • Knowledge of instructional design approaches for developing courses for system and process training.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Exceptional instructional design skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience with community long term support services, financial management services, or related fields.
  • Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Skills in assessing functional unit training needs and researching topics for course development.
  • Experience designing and developing with Articulate 360, or similar software.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as UKG Learning LMS or similar platforms.
  • Creative and effective writing of instructional texts and audio scripts.
  • Experience consulting with leadership to determine the best learning solution.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Effective and appropriate written and verbal communication skills in a business environment.
  • Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience applying knowledge of instructional design principles to the design, development and delivery of instruction.
  • Ability to manage learning development projects and using project management tools/methods.
  • Proficiency with learning technologies to support education development and implementation including learning management systems, virtual classroom delivery tools, and education development software such as Articulate, Captivate, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, screen capture, and audio/video technology.
  • Experience facilitating instructor-led training sessions (optional/desired).
