Position Overview

The Quality Manager leads quality initiatives across power construction projects to ensure compliance, reduce rework, improve efficiency, and drive successful project outcomes. Working closely with project teams, engineering, safety, and field leadership, this role develops and implements quality programs, standardizes best practices, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.

The Quality Manager uses data-driven insights, training, and process optimization to enhance project performance and deliver construction excellence.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America. We offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and startup service needs, specializing in gas and coal-fired power generation, coal retrofit and renewable energy.

The position is based out of Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement quality strategies, programs, and standards across power construction projects.

Promote quality excellence and best practices to improve project performance and consistency.

Conduct field audits, inspections, and process reviews to identify quality risks and improvement opportunities.

Establish and maintain quality procedures, standard work processes, and project documentation.

Analyze quality metrics, project performance data, and trends to drive continuous improvement.

Lead root cause investigations and corrective action plans to prevent recurring issues.

Drive initiatives to reduce rework, improve productivity, and enhance schedule reliability.

Collaborate with project managers, engineering, safety, and field teams to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

Support project planning, execution, and workflow optimization to improve construction outcomes.

Develop and maintain quality dashboards, KPI tracking systems, and performance reports.

Partner with Project Controls to assess cost, schedule, labor productivity, and quality performance.

Present quality results, lessons learned, and improvement recommendations to senior leadership.

Coach and train project teams on quality processes, standards, and industry best practices.

Lead change management efforts to ensure sustained adoption of quality improvements.

Support onboarding and ongoing development of quality programs across offices and job sites.

Partner with Safety, Engineering, Operations, and Project Controls to align project execution processes.

Support digital transformation initiatives, including construction technologies, automation, BIM, and digital workflows.

Collaborate with supply chain teams to improve vendor quality performance and procurement processes.

Ensure compliance with company quality standards, client requirements, and applicable industry regulations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in power construction, industrial construction, utilities, EPC, or similar heavy-construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, or operational excellence.
  • Proven experience driving process improvements in field and project-based settings.
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret project metrics, and lead root cause analysis.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder‑influencing skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent).
  • Experience with transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, or power generation projects.
  • Background in project controls, scheduling, or construction operations.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Primavera P6, Procore, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience leading change management initiatives (ADKAR, Prosci, or equivalent).
