Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment in a major producing unit or assigned area.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”.
  • Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work to be done.
  • Inspects equipment for defects, such as, misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
  • Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
  • Advises when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Dismantle, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, and lubricates mechanical equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
  • Operates simple machine tools, such as, drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.
  • Erects scaffolds and performs simple rigging as necessary.
  • Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.
  • Familiar with alignment / laser tools and equipment
  • Works with repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/ power plant or construction experience.  A general knowledge of basic hand tools.  Must be able to pass the written Millwright Skills Test at or above 70% or have an NCCER certification for your craft. Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training. Obtain and maintain an active status in a drug testing program and pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

  • Employee will be requires standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear and comprehend
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
