Job description

Overview

*This role can be located in our Orlando, FL office, and requires four days per week on‑site.*

The RMR Group is seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Manager of Data Analytics to lead and grow our Data Analytics team within the Enterprise Applications department. This is a player/coach role that combines hands‑on technical contribution with team leadership - the Manager will both guide the strategic direction of data analytics and remain an active contributor to complex reporting and analytics initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft's BI stack - Power BI, SQL Server and SSAS Tabular models - and genuine excitement about how AI is reshaping analytics. RMR is committed to being an early adopter of AI in commercial real estate. This leader will help RMR's analytics function move from traditional reporting to AI‑augmented, self‑service analytics that empower people across the business to make smarter decisions, faster.

The Manager will collaborate closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders and commercial real estate experts to deliver analytics solutions that drive value across RMR’s approximately $40 billion in assets under management.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Directly manage and mentor a team of Data Analysts, fostering a culture of curiosity, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Define team goals, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance evaluations and career development conversations.
  • Champion Agile delivery practices within the analytics team, facilitating sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog prioritization.
  • Serve as an escalation point and technical advisor for complex data issues, ensuring timely resolution and knowledge sharing across the team.

Analytics Strategy & Roadmap

  • Partner with the Senior Director of Enterprise Applications to shape and execute the enterprise data analytics strategy, aligning reporting capabilities with business priorities.
  • Own the analytics roadmap: prioritize investments in tools, platforms, and processes that maximize the team’s impact across the business.
  • Drive adoption of self‑service analytics capabilities, enabling business users to access trusted data independently while reducing ad‑hoc reporting burden on the analytics team.
  • Partner with the Data & AI Platforms team on pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring the analytics stack is scalable, well‑governed and AI‑ready.

Hands‑On Technical Contribution

  • Design and develop sophisticated Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models that deliver actionable insights to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Architect and optimize SSAS Tabular models (data cubes) to support enterprise‑wide analytical needs, ensuring performance, maintainability, and semantic consistency.
  • Write and review complex SQL queries, stored procedures and data transformation logic against Snowflake, SQL Server and Azure data platforms.
  • Lead technical design reviews and peer code reviews for analytics deliverables, ensuring quality, documentation and adherence to team standards.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to ensure optimal data structures for analytics consumption across the Microsoft BI stack (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Power Query).

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as a trusted analytics partner to business leaders, translating complex data into clear narratives and actionable recommendations.
  • Present data findings, roadmap updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Evangelize effective data management practices and promote a data‑driven culture throughout the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with business units to deeply understand their data needs and proactively surface analytical opportunities.

AI‑Forward Analytics Innovation

  • Lead the team’s evolution toward AI‑augmented analytics - exploring and implementing capabilities such as natural language querying, AI‑generated insights, automated anomaly detection and predictive reporting across the Power BI and Snowflake ecosystem.
  • Evaluate and pilot AI tooling relevant to analytics - including Microsoft Fabric, Copilot for Power BI, Azure OpenAI integrations, and other AI/ML platforms relevant to the firm’s analytics needs.
  • Design analytics workflows that leverage LLM‑powered summarization and semantic search to accelerate insight delivery for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Stay current on developments in AI for analytics and data engineering - including lakehouse and data mesh patterns - and bring practical, relevant innovations to RMR.

The Future of Data Analytics at RMR

For analytics, that means moving beyond scheduled dashboards toward conversational, predictive and increasingly agentic intelligence. This manager will help get us there by:

  • Evaluating Microsoft Fabric and OneLake as a future unified analytics foundation that could consolidate data estates and reduce pipeline complexity.
  • Leveraging Copilot and generative AI capabilities natively within Power BI to enable business users to ask questions in plain language and receive instant, trusted answers.
  • Tightening reporting cadence where it matters - moving the right metrics from monthly and weekly cycles toward daily, and faster where there's a real business case.
  • Embedding predictive models and AI‑generated recommendations directly into operational dashboards - shifting the team’s value from descriptive to prescriptive analytics.
  • Championing responsible AI in analytics: establishing guardrails around data accuracy, model interpretability and governance as AI‑generated insights become part of decision‑making workflows.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Management, Information Systems, Information Science or a related quantitative field; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence, with at least 2 years in a team lead or management capacity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and enterprise‑grade report and dashboard development.
  • Deep experience designing, building and tuning SSAS Tabular models (Analysis Services data cubes) for enterprise analytics workloads.
  • Strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience in SQL Server, including query optimization, stored procedures, and schema design.
  • Familiarity with the full Microsoft SQL Server BI stack: SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and Excel/Power Query.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain a team of data professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives for technical and executive audiences.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps principles applied to data pipelines.
  • Strong attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to data quality and accuracy.
  • Genuine curiosity about applying AI to analytics, with a habit of adopting new tools and techniques - not just awareness of them.

Preferred

  • Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integrations in the Power BI ecosystem, including Copilot for Power BI or Azure OpenAI Service.
  • Hands‑on prompt‑engineering experience - writing reusable prompts that use shared context and memory, and working with markdown‑based prompt and instruction files - plus exposure to LLMOps or AI‑assisted analytics tooling.
  • Knowledge of data mesh, lakehouse, or medallion architecture patterns.
  • Experience in or strong knowledge of commercial real estate industry data and workflows.
  • Multi‑cloud data experience across Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and/or Amazon AWS.
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis and automation.
