Purposeย

The Power Plant Managerย is responsible forย the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the Lake Charles Power Unit, including the Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), Steam Turbine Generator, auxiliary systems, water treatment, emissions control systems, and related power-generation assets.ย 

This position leads all daytoday plant activities, ensuring compliance with load requirements, environmental regulations, industry standards, and corporate safety policies. The role provides strategic direction for operations, maintenance planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement, while ensuring personnel are trained, developed, andย performing toย expectations.ย

Supervises: Operations and Maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendorsย 

Internal Contacts: Operations leadership, procurement, engineering,ย SH&E, reliability teamsย

1. Operational Leadershipย 

  • Oversee daily operations of the power unit ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable power generation.ย 

  • Coordinate and plan power generation and distribution to meet load and operational requirements.ย 

  • Monitor plant equipment performance and direct operational adjustments as needed.ย 

2. Maintenance Managementย 

  • Ensure systematic implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, including annual PM and turnaround schedules.ย 

  • Oversee condition monitoring of critical equipment and maintenance based on asset health.ย 

  • Review and approveย maintenanceย work plans, spare parts inventory, and procurement specifications.ย 

3. Compliance & Safetyย 

  • Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, health and safety laws, and industry standards.ย 

  • Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies, procedures, and SOPs.ย 

  • Lead internal compliance initiatives andย interface withย regulatory bodies.ย 

4. Financial & Business Managementย 

  • Develop, manage, and control the plant budget, including operating costs, maintenance expenditures, and capital plans.ย 

  • Provide financial forecasting, KPI reporting, and resource planning aligned with business strategy.ย 

  • Support costbenefit analysis, project justification, and performance evaluation.ย 

5. Talent Development & Leadershipย 

  • Train, supervise, coach, and evaluate plant personnel to ensure safe work, technicalย proficiency, and performance accountability.ย 

  • Build an effectiveย operationsย and maintenance team by aligning roles, responsibilities, and competency development with business needs.ย 

  • Lead communication across shifts and work groups, ensuring clarity and alignment.ย 

6. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solvingย 

  • Drive innovation and process improvements to enhance plant reliability, efficiency, and safety performance.ย 

  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment or process failures and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.ย 

  • Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.ย 

Jobย Requirementsย ย 
Education & Experienceย 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline preferred; minimum two years of related technical training (college or vocational)ย required.ย 

  • 15 years+ of broad power generation operations and maintenance experience; strong background with HRSGs, boilers, steam turbines, auxiliary systems, feedwater systems, cooling towers, compressors, and water treatment.ย 

  • 3ย -ย 6 years of supervisory or managerial experience leading teams in a power generation environment.ย 

  • Expert ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety standards.ย 

  • Advanced capability in planning, organizing, resource scheduling, workflow management, budgeting, financial acumen, and operational oversight.ย 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex maintenance programs (PM, condition monitoring, turnaround planning).ย 

  • Strong communication, leadership, decisionmaking, and compliance managementย kilsls.ย
