Job description

Trueline is seeking an Electrical Department Head / Senior Electrical Project Engineer (PE) to join their team onsite in Casper, Wyoming. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on electrical engineer who wants to lead a local discipline, mentor junior talent, and stay close to the technical work while helping shape the future of a growing office.

What You'll Do as the Electrical Department Head / Senior Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Lead the electrical discipline for the Casper office and serve as the local technical authority for electrical engineering work
  • Perform and oversee electrical design for commercial building projects across power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, communications, security, and related special systems
  • Act as Engineer of Record for applicable projects and sign/seal plans as needed
  • Mentor and guide junior electrical staff, providing technical oversight, coaching, and day-to-day support
  • Partner with office leadership on project staffing, workload planning, QA/QC, and team development
  • Review construction documents, shop drawings, specifications, and design deliverables for quality, constructability, and code compliance
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, architects, owners, contractors, and consultants throughout design and construction
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and construction-phase support
  • Support scope development, fee input, and project profitability discussions as needed
  • Help strengthen the firm's electrical presence in the Casper market through strong client relationships and community engagement

Must-Haves as the Electrical Department Head / Senior Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • PE license, or a clear path to near-term licensure with the right level of electrical building design experience
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in MEP consulting, with a strong focus on commercial and institutional buildings
  • Deep knowledge of building power systems, lighting, controls, and special systems design
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers or designers
  • Ability to balance technical production with leadership responsibilities in a player-coach environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, project teams, and internal stakeholders
  • Willingness to work onsite in Casper and become part of the local office and community

Nice-to-Haves as the Electrical Department Head / Senior Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Revit experience
  • AutoCAD familiarity
  • Prior experience as a department lead, project manager, or senior project engineer within an MEP consulting environment
