Senior Power Electronics Engineer - Hardware Design

As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer - Hardware Design, you will design innovative power supply products for datacenters, industrial and telecommunication applications and lead the product development process from concept realization through introduction of product into high volume production. These projects will include New Product Introduction (NPI), Direct Material Productivity (DMP), resolving customer issues, and sustaining existing products. Reporting to the R&D/ Senior Technical Manager, this position will be expected to demonstrate leadership globally.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Selecting AC/DC and DC/DC topologies based on product requirements
  • Designing controllers for AC/DC and isolated DC/DC converters
  • Optimizing designs for efficiency, density, and cost
  • Creating schematics, bills of material, and PCB layouts
  • Creating high density PCB layout with noise and EMI mitigation
  • Conducting design reviews and following the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • Performing hands-on lab work, building, testing and qualifying prototypes
  • Introducing the product into high-volume production
  • Leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Preparing invention disclosures to protect intellectual property
  • Mentoring junior engineers

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics or equivalent from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional power converter design experience

Desired Requirements:

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Electronics preferred
  • Hands-on experience on control design for grid-interfaced power converters
  • Experience with SiC and GaN devices-based power converter design
  • Circuit simulation experience (PLECS/ PSPICE/ SIMPLIS/ SIMetrix)
  • High frequency magnetics design knowledge
  • Ability to drive, understand and adhere to product roadmaps, define new platforms
  • Hands-on experience related to EMC of switch mode power supplies
  • Knowledge of IPC 9592B - Requirements for Power Conversion Devices for the Computer and Telecommunications Industries
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, strong team player
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to drive projects to completion
