Position Summary

An Electrical Power Distribution Engineer focuses on the seamless transition from project design to active operation. During a project's startup phase, the engineer is responsible for commissioning all electrical distribution assets-including switchgear, transformers, busways, and protection systems-ensuring they meet design tolerances, safety codes, and performance specifications. Detailed test plans, systematic faultfinding, and documentation of commissioning results are core tasks that guarantee the facility's electrical architecture is correctly integrated and fully functional before the facility becomes operational. Once the facility is live, the engineer's role shifts to maintaining reliability and operational integrity. This involves proactive monitoring of voltage quality, load balancing, and redundancy, as well as scheduling preventive maintenance and rapid response to any anomalies. By integrating advanced monitoring systems, predictive analytics, and robust faultmanagement protocols, the engineer guarantees that the power distribution network continues to deliver safe, efficient, and uninterrupted service throughout the plant's lifecycle.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Overseeing commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical power systems

  • Development of detailed step plans incorporating risk analysis for all device operations

  • Project and Schedule management for large multi-team efforts

  • Ensuring power system uptime and performance

  • Managing the proper operation and incident response/recovery

  • Performing alarm management and rationalization of alarms, Monitor trends in equipment utilization, capacity and performance

  • Development of detailed step plans incorporating risk analysis for all device operations

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related Engineering field, Electrical or Electronics Engineering highly preferred.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with medium & high voltage electrical distribution.

  • Knowledgeable in MV Switchgear and it's Protections.

  • Experience in Commissioning, testing, of HV/MV/LV electrical distribution equipment. (Including creation of commissioning procedures etc.)

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $150,760. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
