Job description


The Power Distribution Design Engineer applies developing technical expertise to solve simple problems, and leadership skills to provide oversight of work in relations to power distribution, their specific area of developing expertise, with close supervision.
Workers are expected to develop skill in their field of study and can work with some degree of independence.
This position is to write work orders and will require handling numerous work order simultaneously.
Candidates will spend approximately one day a week in the field taking gathering data.
The remainder of time will be spent entering data into design systems and managing work assigned to them.
Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems related to power distribution.
Ensure accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
Beginning level of knowledge in preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
Conducts engineering and related studies.
Strive to continually improve job related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Maintains accurate records and files.
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Qualifications:
Technical Associates degree, OR 2+ years of relevant power distribution experience.
Proficient user of computer applications, particularly MS Office and AutoCAD.
Experience in the utility industry.
Understanding of project management principles.
Self-Motivated, work independently, team-oriented, customer oriented,
Able to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members.
