Reporting to the Manager, Business Analytics, the Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for transforming business data into actionable insights through data analysis, semantic model development, and other analytics solutions.
This role partners closely with our Agile Delivery team to understand requirements, communicate findings, and develop trusted analytics products that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance existing Power BI models, ETL scripts (M), calculations (DAX), and design (UI/UX) in conjunction with GitHub and Jira, following best practice lifecycle development
  • Work with business users to assess new build requests, refine requirements using Confluence and Jira, and develop reporting content in Power BI or other reporting tools that aligns with established development best practices
  • Enhance the organization's catalogue of Power Apps and Power Automate solutions
  • Build foundational knowledge across the analytics stack, including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Paginated Reports, Databricks, and Sigma
  • Support routine maintenance, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting of analytics assets and low-code solutions
  • Collaborate regularly with internal stakeholders, including the Construction Services Sustainment Team, business leaders, operational teams, finance teams, project teams, Information Services, Data Engineering, and Data Governance teams to gather requirements, support reporting and analytics initiatives, and drive effective business outcomes
  • Communicate progress, blockers, risks, and questions clearly with team members and business partners
  • Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a continuous learning mindset by asking thoughtful questions, seeking feedback, and building both technical and business knowledge
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a College, trade, or technical diploma or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience developing business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or data visualization solutions
  • Experience gathering business requirements, translating them into technical solutions, and delivering reporting and analytics outcomes
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, semantic modelling, report design, and SQL
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets to generate actionable business insights and support decision-making
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud-based analytics platforms and modern data ecosystems, including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or similar technologies
  • Understanding of data management principles, including data movement, modelling, quality, governance, and security
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and sprint-based delivery methodologies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while managing multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience supporting analytics initiatives within construction, engineering, telecommunications, infrastructure, or related industries is considered an asset
