Job description


SAIC is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with expertise in both Tableau and Microsoft Power BI to support enterprise analytics initiatives across federal government programs. The ideal candidate is a versatile BI professional who can design and develop compelling, data-driven dashboards and reports, work across multiple BI platforms, and collaborate effectively with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. This role can be worked 100% remotely within the united states for the right candidate.
This role may also include responsibilities for Tableau Server and/or Power BI Report Server administration, making it well-suited for candidates who can bridge both development and platform administration functions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau and Microsoft Power BI
  • Translate complex business requirements into clear, intuitive, and performant visualizations
  • Build operational, tactical, and executive-level reporting solutions supporting program health, KPI tracking, performance trends, and compliance monitoring
  • Develop drill-down and self-service reporting capabilities enabling business users to explore data independently
  • Create and maintain calculated fields, measures, KPIs, and business logic within both platforms
  • Develop high-volume transactional reports with data export capabilities
  • Ensure dashboards are optimized for performance, scalability, and usability across user groups
  • Connect to and model data from a variety of sources including relational databases, cloud data warehouses, flat files, and APIs
  • Build and maintain semantic data models, published data sources, and reusable datasets
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and validation
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams on data pipeline design, reporting views, aggregations, and data quality standards
  • Consume curated, analytics-ready datasets from centralized data warehouses; avoid direct querying of operational systems where possible
  • Support data governance practices including documentation of data definitions, lineage, and refresh schedules
  • Deploy, configure, and administer Tableau Server including high-availability environments
  • Manage Power BI Service administration including workspaces, capacity management, and gateway configuration
  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and content governance across both platforms
  • Monitor platform performance, manage extract and refresh schedules, and troubleshoot issues
  • Support platform upgrades, patching, and licensing management in coordination with IT and procurement teams
  • Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) across both Tableau and Power BI environments, where required
  • Embed Tableau dashboards using Tableau Connected Apps with JWT-based SSO
  • Support enterprise authentication integrations
  • Ensure compliance with federal security requirements including FedRAMP and agency-specific ATO requirements
  • Coordinate with portal and application development teams on embedding API implementation
  • Work within AWS GovCloud and/or Microsoft Azure cloud environments
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams leveraging AWS services such as Redshift, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Glue, and Lambda
  • Support analytics workloads on Databricks, including Delta Lake table consumption and pipeline coordination
  • Ensure reporting architectures isolate analytics workloads from transactional processing systems
  • Support infrastructure setup and deployment using Terraform and GitLab
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather and refine reporting requirements
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • Conduct dashboard reviews and user acceptance testing with business and technical teams
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including data dictionaries, dashboard specifications, and user guides
  • Provide training and support to end users and report consumers across the organization

Qualifications
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Tableau
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and validation across relational databases
  • Strong working knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and Power Query (M language) for Power BI data modeling
  • Experience with Tableau Server administration including user management, permissions, and extract scheduling
  • Experience with Power BI Service administration including workspace management, gateway configuration, and capacity planning
  • Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) in both Tableau and Power BI
  • Experience embedding BI dashboards in web applications using SSO and API-based integration
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, dimensional modeling, and analytics best practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government programs, particularly DoD or other civilian agencies
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP compliance requirements and agency ATO processes
  • Experience working in AWS GovCloud or Microsoft Azure Government environments
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Experience with AWS services including Redshift, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Glue, and Lambda
  • Familiarity with Terraform and GitLab for infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Tableau Next, Tableau Cloud, or AI-infused analytics features
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments
  • One or more relevant certifications:
    • Tableau Desktop Specialist
    • Tableau Certified Data Analyst
    • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
    • Databricks Certified Associate Developer
