Job description

NAVA Software solutions is looking for a Sr. BI Engineer.
Details:
Sr. BI Engineer
Location: Washington DC (1-2 days/month onsite) / 100% remote is also ok
Duration: 6-12 months
Position Summary
The incumbent in this position will be part of the Data Science and Engineering Technologies team and will be filling in for a BI engineer must be able to analyze, design, develop, integrate, run, and support various Looker based Dashboards, LookML and reporting requirements across multiple Data warehouses and data architectures involving various cloud based data sources and possibly on prem data sources as well.
This position will be required to:
  • Work with Business Owners, Data Warehouse teams and Business Intelligence teams [On Looker/Tableau etc] to identify requirement on new and existing data warehouses
    and data marts and implement LookML Logic to design, develop and launch new Looks and dashboards based on the business needs.
  • Work with business users and technical designers to assist in efficient LookML data model designs that meet business unit requirements involving integrations of various
    ACS publications and other related data retrieved into various data warehouses/marts.
  • Work with management, project managers and other lead developers and architects to help design and develop Business Intelligence artificats and assets that can be
    leveraged across the organization.
  • Understand relationship between GCP products well - Primarily Data Fusion, Big Queryand Looker, and demonstrate experience in Advanced Looker development and interfacing with Google Big Query [Comparable DW acceptable].
  • Good working knowledge of UX/UI development within and outside looker.
  • Provide strong leadership and mentoring for less senior personnel in the areas of design, implementation, and professional development.
  • Be flexible to work during non-Business hours.

The ideal candidate will:
  • Have experience with Google Looker or Equivalent, Interfacing with Big Query or Equivalent, to establish sound Business Intelligence for ACS, and to establish best
    practices within the team. Very good understanding of SQL queries [both generated and custom written]
  • Have an extremely in-depth understanding of features and capabilities of looker with demonstrable experience.
  • HTML/Javascript and other UI technologies is a plus.
  • Have a working knowledge of Tableau and other BI tools which may assist.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
