The Data Engineer III (Visualization & Applications) serves as the frontend data storytelling expert and application developer for our rapidly growing network. Working in tandem with our backend Data Engineering team, this role focuses on speed-to-insight, translating complex clinical and financial datasets into actionable intelligence. You will navigate the frontend data lifecycle, from designing executive-level Power BI dashboards to rolling out custom Power Apps that drive workflow optimization and change management across the enterprise.
The Healthcare Data Engineer III serves as a primary technical architect and strategic partner to the Director of Operational Performance. In this role, you will function as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data architecture, bridging the gap between complex backend systems and actionable business intelligence. This is a dynamic, high-impact position designed for a problem-solver who is eager to move beyond simple reporting and into predictive analytics and statistical modeling. Job Description
Under general supervision, this individual performs advanced data engineering, analytics, and reporting functions. The Healthcare Data Engineer is responsible for the integrity, accessibility, and usability of data within the MCP network.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Operational Performance, you will collaborate with leadership to transform raw data into meaningful insights. You will be responsible for understanding where data lives, the native capabilities of source systems (such as Epic), and how to leverage external tools to build scalable solutions. This role requires high adaptability, as you will pivot between foundational data engineering, ad-hoc financial analysis, and sophisticated modeling projects depending on business needs.
Iterative Data Storytelling & Dashboards: Design, build, and maintain automated executive dashboards and Physician Score Cards utilizing advanced DAX and Power BI visualization best practices. Focus heavily on iterative storytelling, continuously refining visual solutions based on end-user feedback to ensure insights remain actionable and highly relevant.
Full-Cycle Development & Collaboration: Partner directly with the backend care team member from the inception of a request to ensure the data architecture supports frontend operational needs. Manage the full product lifecycle through to successful rollout and ongoing day-to-day maintenance.
End-User Education & Scalable Adoption: Actively educate, train, and collaborate with operational and clinical end-users at scale. Gather continuous feedback to iteratively improve the user experience and ensure the tools are solving the right problems.
Application Development & Change Management: Design, deploy, and manage custom Power Apps to automate operational workflows, acting as the primary change agent to ensure successful adoption.
Executive Reporting & QBRs: Manage and iterate upon the enterprise-wide Quarterly Business Review (QBR) framework, developing high-impact presentations utilized by executive leadership to engage Market C-Suites.
Ad-Hoc Problem Solving: Serve as the rapid-response engineer for specialized data deep-dives, synthesizing complex data into simplified, comprehensible formats for operational leaders.
Must be able to work and collaborate effectively with teams across the MHealth System.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree Required with 8-10 years' experience in healthcare analytics or analytics in healthcare adjacent industry. Experience with EHR-based reporting preferred, Epic experience preferred.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:
Required:
  • Certification and/or expressed proficiency or master of DAX language
  • History of mastery in PowerBI / Tableau / Data Visualization
  • History of Healthcare Ad Hoc reporting mastery
