Job description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Powder Coater to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing, coating, inspecting, and finishing metal parts while maintaining high quality and safety standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure parts are properly prepared for powder coating, including sandblasting, rust removal, oil removal, and maintaining overall surface cleanliness.
  • Apply knowledge of proper hanging techniques, including hanging angle for pretreatment chemical drainage, application ergonomics, and rack density optimization.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of optimal hanging methods for individual parts and production runs.
  • Qualify properly processed parts using a basic understanding of chemical pretreatment processes.
  • Operate, monitor, and set up powder coating application and support equipment to achieve consistent quality and production efficiency goals.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and housekeeping schedules using proper shop practices and procedures.
  • Operate powder application equipment including electrostatic spray guns, feed hoppers, and powder reclaim systems.
  • Powder coat metal surfaces including steel, aluminum, hardware, accessories, and other coated or uncoated metal surfaces according to specifications.
  • Understand powder curing requirements as they relate to metal thickness and oven exposure time.
  • Perform periodic oven and part temperature analysis using chart recorder readings and monitoring equipment.
  • Inspect and qualify finished parts to ensure compliance with established quality standards, including:
    • Proper mil thickness
    • Texture and appearance
    • Full part coverage
    • Adhesion testing (crosshatching to ASTM standards)
  • Guide and assist team members in maintaining quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), equipment operation, work practices, and housekeeping.
Qualifications
  • Previous powder coating or industrial finishing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of powder coating systems, curing ovens, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to read work instructions and follow production specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle metal parts and materials safely.
