Job description

As a Powder Coater you will operate a batch powder coating system to prepare, coat, cure, and finish metal parts in a high-growth manufacturing environment. This role handles all stages of the powder coating process—from racking and cleaning parts through to documentation and shipping—while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards. The position offers extensive training, opportunities for advancement, and the chance to contribute to the electrification of critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the batch powder coating system, including parts preparation, electrostatic spray coating, curing, and finishing activities.
  • Prepare parts by racking, cleaning, and arranging them according to production requirements and quality standards.
  • Set up, operate, and adjust the electrostatic spray coating gun and powder coating booth to ensure consistent coverage and finish.
  • Monitor and operate the curing oven to achieve proper cure times and temperatures for each job.
  • Perform wash-down and cleaning of the booth and related equipment to maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Unrack coated parts, inspect finishes, and organize parts for the next stage of the process or shipment.
  • Document job status, part counts, and production details using a computer-based system.
  • Assist with organizing and preparing parts and materials for shipping, including basic shipping and receiving tasks as needed.
  • Support inventory and basic management of powder coating consumables and related supplies.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to respiratory safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with leads and team members to meet production goals and continuously improve processes.
  • Participate fully in training and development activities to build proficiency in powder coating and related operations.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of experience in powder coating in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of the powder coating process, including surface preparation, application, and curing.
  • Hands-on experience operating powder coating equipment such as electrostatic spray guns, booths, and curing ovens.
  • Ability to pass a respiratory medical exam and comply with respiratory protection requirements.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work to meet scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods and occasionally lift 25–50 lbs.
  • Capability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
