Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Technical Project Manager in Minneapolis, MN.
Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives focused on application performance optimization, latency reduction, scalability improvements, platform stability, and technical debt remediation for a business-critical Node.js application ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Performance & Latency Improvement:
* Lead enterprise initiatives focused on identifying and remediating application latency and performance bottlenecks
* Coordinate efforts across development, architecture, infrastructure, database, and DevOps teams to improve system responsiveness
Drive performance tuning initiatives related to:
* Node.js application performance
* API response times
* Database query optimization
* Caching strategies
* Memory and CPU utilization
* Application throughput and scalability
* Establish performance baselines and track key metrics throughout remediation programs
* Ensure performance goals and SLAs are clearly defined and measurable
Technical Debt Reduction:
* Create and maintain a technical debt remediation roadmap
* Partner with engineering leadership to prioritize debt reduction efforts based on business risk and platform impact
* Track technical debt initiatives and communicate progress to leadership
Program & Project Management:
* Develop project plans, milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies
* Facilitate daily, weekly, and executive-level governance meetings
* Drive accountability across multiple engineering teams
* Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource planning
* Maintain delivery dashboards and executive reporting
Platform Reliability & Stability:
* Partner with SRE and Operations teams to improve production stability
* Coordinate root cause analysis efforts for critical incidents
* Track recurring incidents and ensure remediation actions are completed
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
* 5+ years of Project Management, Technical Program Management, or Engineering Program Management experience
* Experience managing complex software engineering initiatives within Agile environments
* Experience leading application modernization, technical debt reduction, or performance improvement programs
* Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
* Experience working directly with engineering and architecture teams
Technical Knowledge:
* Understanding of Node.js application architecture and web application performance concepts
Experience with:
* REST APIs
* Microservices architectures
* Application monitoring tools
* Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
* CI/CD pipelines
* Agile/Scrum methodologies
* Ability to discuss technical trade-offs with senior engineers and architects
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting high-volume customer-facing applications
Experience working with:
* Node.js
* Express.js
* Kubernetes
* Docker
* Redis
* MongoDB
* PostgreSQL
* Kafka or event-driven systems
* PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, or SAFe certification
* Experience implementing observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Splunk, or AppDynamics
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
