The department of Biology is a large, unified department with strong undergraduate degrees, nationally-ranked graduate programs, and world-class research spanning the breadth of biological questions and experimental systems - from ecosystems to microbiology and developmental biology, from evolution to cell biology, from molecular biology to systems biology, bioinformatics, and genomics. The Danthi laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral research fellow for our NIH supported project on the detection of reovirus infection. We investigate how viral and host factor affect the exposure and accumulation of viral RNA in the cell and investigate the consequences of aberrant exposure of viral RNA. The individual hired into this position will continue ongoing research into this area and initiate new projects related to the reovirus-host interactions. The ideal candidate will should have knowledge, experience and confidence to work in independently and help other laboratory members.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and skills required:
PhD in Virology or related discipline
Mastery of standard molecular cloning methods
Mammalian Cell culture
Genome editing
Fluorescence Microscopy
Teamwork skill
Proficiency in written and oral communication
