Job Description
The Department of Food and Animal Sciences, College of Agriculture, Tennessee State University
(TSU),
is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to work as a Research Post-Doctoral Fellow in a USDA funded project in food ingredient science, dietary fiber, and gut microbiome. This is a one-year, grant-funded position which may be extended depending on the availability of funds.
This position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in food chemistry, polymer science, molecular microbiology, or a related field of study that has equipped the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Knowledge of food ingredient science, polysaccharide chemistry, dietary fiber, molecular microbiology, in vitro and in vivo evaluation of functional properties of food ingredients, gut microbiome and gut health, and analytical instrumentation is essential for this position.
The candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written
competencies, interpersonal skills, and willingness to work in multidisciplinary teams. The
position will be stationed in TSU main campus and will involve research activities at other
collaborating institutions as needed. This is a I-year, grant-funded position which may be extended
depending on the availability of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Biological Science or related disciplines. Proficiency in designing and conducting wet chemical and spectroscopic experiments involving inorganic and organic soil contaminants.
