Job description

Postdoctoral Research Associate — Aquatic Toxicology, Texas Tech University

The Crago Lab at Texas Tech University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate to lead aquatic toxicology work on Permian Basin produced water — characterizing treated water across a cross-phyla WET battery (zebrafish, fathead minnow, sheepshead minnow, killifish, Hyalella, Daphnia) and connecting molecular response to the apical endpoints that drive discharge permitting.

We are especially interested in candidates who want to work with the VAST FluoroImager for high-content larval fish imaging and to help build out our transcriptomics capability. The postdoc will have access to HRMS datasets for non-target screening and effect-directed work, help calibrate online treatment-train sensors against biological effect, and collaborate with aquatic ecologists sampling the Pecos River — the same taxa we test in the lab. Our emphasis is chronic and sublethal: multi-day exposures with behavioral and growth endpoints alongside time-resolved survival modeling.

Required: PhD in environmental toxicology, aquatic toxicology, biology, environmental science or related; standardized toxicity testing experience; R or Python proficiency. Desired: RNA-seq, automated or high-content imaging, transgenic reporter lines, HRMS/non-target screening, and familiarity with EPA WET methods or NPDES/TPDES frameworks.
