You can review the additional job description section on postings for documents that may be required.* Prior to submitting your application, please review and update (if necessary) the information in your candidate profile as it will transfer to your application.## Job Title:Postdoc Scholar## Department:Veterinary Medicine | Veterinary BiosciencesA laboratory offering state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Infectious Diseases Institute, the Ohio State University, is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to work on an NIH-funded project. This post-doctoral researcher will investigate the pathogenic mechanisms of a group of vector-borne obligatory intracellular bacteria that cause emerging zoonoses. The candidates will utilize *in vitro* and *in vivo* experimental models (e.g. ticks and mice) to study novel Type IV secretion effectors and other bacterial factors in human and tick cells, and will be tasked to identify and characterize functions of bacterial proteins and cognitive host cell molecules and signaling pathways. In addition, the researcher will collect, analyze and interpret research data; assists in the preparation of research papers for publication and presentation at national and international conferences; perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research projects; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students; or perform additional duties as assigned. ## Additional Information:**Required Education:** PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, or related discipline. **Required Experiences:** A strong publication record, problem solving ability, and organizational skills. Advanced molecular, cellular, and microbiological research techniques and various sterile procedures, including Western blot, RT-qPCR, ELISA, molecular cloning and protein purification for studying protein-protein interactions, cell culture, and use of advanced microscopy and morphometric techniques.Experience of working with obligatory intracellular bacteria is desirable.
