Mail Courier - Orlando City Hall

Must possess a valid driver's license with 3 years of acceptable driving experience.

Pay Rate: $18.00/hr 

Weekly hours: Part-Time 30 hours

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 9 AM to 3 PM

SUMMARY:

This position performs courier and delivery services for Orlando City Hall facilities. This position is responsible for the secure and timely transport of interoffice and U.S. mail between departments and buildings within the City of Orlando.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all assigned duties in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Company.
  • Reports to the designated starting location at the scheduled route start time and completes assigned routes; ending times may vary based on volume, stops, and unforeseen delays.
  • Manage the secure collection, sorting, and delivery of interoffice mail, U.S. mail, and Certified Mail across city facilities.
  • Adhere to a strict daily delivery route, ensuring all scheduled stops are completed within the designated five-hour window. This includes sorting, loading, and unloading mail tubs and boxes daily.
  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody records, delivery logs, and shipping documentation to ensure full accountability.
  • Perform daily route duties using company-provided vehicles, ensuring all departmental stops are met while adhering to established traffic and parking protocols.
  • Completes special delivery requests as assigned, including non-routine deliveries outside of standard daily routes.
  • Ensures all routine courier work is completed during the assigned daily route; avoids unnecessary return trips unless directed.
  • Safely loads, unloads, secures, and transports packages, mail, and containers to prevent damage, loss, or unauthorized access.
  • Operates Company or County vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic laws, safety policies, and operating procedures.
  • Reports delays, route issues, safety concerns, vehicle concerns, or delivery discrepancies to a supervisor promptly.
  • Reports to work on time and dressed in company uniform, including employee badge, as required.
  • Follows all company policies including safety procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable federal, state, and County regulations.
  • Works a flexible schedule as required to meet operational needs.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is preferred.
  • Six months of related experience is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices and route navigation.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive materials with discretion.
  • Ability to comply with U.S. Postal Service regulations and County procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (as required by assignment).
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish.
