What is a post production editor?

A Post Production Editor is a professional responsible for assembling, editing, and refining video and audio footage after filming is complete. They use specialized software to cut, arrange, and enhance content, ensuring the final product meets creative and technical standards. Their work often includes color correction, sound editing, adding effects, and collaborating with directors or producers to achieve the desired vision. Post Production Editors play a crucial role in film, television, advertising, and online media industries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a post production editor?

To thrive as a Post Production Editor, you need expertise in video editing, color correction, and a solid understanding of storytelling, usually supported by experience or a degree in film, media, or a related field. Proficiency in industry-standard software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects is essential, and certifications in these tools can be beneficial. Job description

ABOUT AIRRACK

Airrack is a tight-knit team that pulls off ambitious, innovative YouTube videos that get millions of views. We're creative, gritty, and passionate about making content no one else dares to. We work hard, have a great time doing it, and we're always pushing to see how far digital storytelling can go!

THE ROLE

We are looking for an assistant editor to join the Airrack team on site when the situation calls for it. You will be a critical part of the post-production workflow. You are the first point of contact for all incoming media and act as a bridge between production, post-production, and creative.

You also function as sort of a Media Manager โ€” responsible for ingesting media into our media server, receiving cards/drives from production shoots, organizing files into appropriate folders, maintaining folder structures, and ensuring that assets are safely backed up and named properly.

This role requires attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to think ahead. You're also expected to give feedback to remote editors and troubleshoot issues quickly when they arise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ingest media from production shoots
  • Track and update the Inventory Sheet
  • Delegate and review tasks for Overseas Assistant Editors
  • Use sync and conversion tools (Syncaila, HandBrake)
  • Apply in-house color label presets in Premiere Pro
  • Strong English comprehension for writing voiceover scripts and subtitles
  • Utilize Notion and Slack for team communication and task management
  • Export and deliver audio STEMS for dubbing
  • Archive completed projects to server upon delivery
