Position Summary


As a Bartender at Snorkelbox, the cocktail bar within The Old Post Office, you will play a vital role in delivering an outstanding guest experience. The Snorkelbox beverage program features classically driven cocktails inspired by the excitement of travel, with a special focus on equal measure builds. We are a welcoming, fun-loving space where office regulars and tourists alike can feel at home, and your ideas will help drive the direction of the bar and how we engage with the community while you uphold service standards, maintain a professional presence behind the bar, contribute to a warm and inviting atmosphere, and execute daily operations efficiently and creatively.


Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Service & Operations

  • Work 2-3 bar shifts per week.
  • Follow consistent steps of service to ensure every guest receives a high-quality experience.
  • Greet guests, assist with drink selections, serve beverages, and clear bar tops and tables.
  • Maintain bar cleanliness and organization, ensuring all guest areas are fully stocked.
  • Wash, polish, and restock glassware.
  • Monitor stock levels, communicate shortages, and restock as needed.
  • Perform weekly prep, including batches, syrups, juices, and other bar essentials.
  • Assist with dish machine maintenance (chemical levels, unclogging blades, cleaning drain grate, deliming).
  • Execute complete and efficient opening and closing procedures.

  • Deliver genuine, memorable experiences that exceed guest expectations.
  • Foster a warm, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Engage with the Chicago bar community and stay connected to industry peers.

Creativity & Growth

  • Participate in the execution of house drink recipes and contribute to the creative process.
  • Suggest menu ideas aligned with Snorkelbox's concept.
  • Keep up with cocktail history, drink recipes, and spirits trends.
  • Collaborate on developing new cocktails and menu items in alignment with the bar's concept principles.
  • Take direction with a willingness to improve bartending skills.

Requirements


About You

  • Minimum of 1 year full-service restaurant experience and at least 1 year bartending experience.
  • Strong spirits knowledge and interest in cocktail history.
  • Experience with high-volume craft cocktail service.
  • A passion for cocktails and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable standing and moving for extended periods, including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds as needed.
