Job description

Join a dedicated team committed to empowering adults with developmental disabilities and their families to achieve greater independence and self-sufficiency. As a Community Support Facilitator (CSF), you will play a vital role in supporting parents—some of whom may also have developmental disabilities—in navigating daily life, accessing resources, and building essential skills for themselves and their children. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by fostering self-advocacy, promoting inclusion, and helping families thrive in their homes and neighborhoods.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Independent Living Services (ILS) to adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on parents and their families.
  • Assist families with day-to-day activities, including household management, budgeting, meal planning, and health practices.
  • Support parents in developing effective parenting skills and strategies.
  • Collaborate with family members, support persons, regional center personnel, and other service providers to coordinate care and resources.
  • Facilitate access to community resources, peer groups, and self-advocacy organizations.
  • Encourage and support participation in community activities, such as advisory boards and local planning meetings.
  • Provide advocacy training to individuals and their support networks, including guidance on navigating healthcare, education, and community systems.
  • Promote person-centered decision-making, ensuring individuals have a voice in their services and home environment.
  • Deliver health and safety training, including emergency preparedness, to individuals and their support persons.
  • Support the development and maintenance of positive relationships within the family and community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, early childhood development, education, nursing, or a related field; or
  • Associate’s degree in a related field plus 2 years of full-time professional experience providing Parenting Support Services; or
  • 4 years of full-time professional experience providing Parenting Support Services.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassion, sensitivity, and strong interpersonal skills when supporting individuals and families in challenging situations.
  • Current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Reliable transportation, valid California Driver’s License, and current automobile insurance.
