Job Description
Join Utah State Parks as a Park Ranger II! We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to be the front-line face of Huntington, Millsite, and Scofield State Parks. The core focus of this position is centered on developing and presenting public education and interpretive programs, alongside managing daily operational support. If you are enthusiastic about park operations and can accommodate a weekend and holiday work schedule, we encourage you to apply
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform buildings and grounds maintenance, janitorial duties, and snow grooming responsibilities.
  • Perform customer service duties, including fee collection, camper registration, and disseminating information about the parks and surrounding area to the general public
  • Supervise seasonal park staff and volunteers
  • Assist with planning and implementation of special events.

Qualifications
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
  • Schedule and conduct education programs.
  • Organize and oversee volunteer projects.
  • Manage Park Social Media pages.
  • Oversee front line operations.
  • Host visitors and provide visitor services.
  • Dependability and self-motivation. Proven reliability with a strong ability to work independently and take proactive.
  • Willingness to participate in the comprehensive planning, design, and upkeep of park facilities.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:
  • Educational programming experience.
  • Broad knowledge of parks and park programs.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to be well rounded in all park functions and guest experiences.
  • Strong collaboration and capable of working in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of social media.
  • Experience working in parks or other outdoor recreation fields
  • A working understanding of facilities and grounds maintenance, or the ability to learn basic maintenance principles and skills; carpentry, electrical, plumbing, equipment maintenance, POS systems, special event planning and implementation.
  • CDL License or ability to obtain.
  • General accounting and cash handling experience.
  • Experience supervising subordinate employees.

Supplemental Information:
  • Lifting moderate weights (50 lbs. or less); standing, sitting, walking, and working in all (including very hot and very cold) weather conditions; ability to work in a very remote location; ability to perform various maintenance activities - digging, raking, lifting, etc.; physical ability to operate various equipment - vehicles, off highway vehicles (OHVs), power and hand tools, etc. Must be willing to work weekends, nights and holidays.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • May require incumbent to work on call, and/or after hour call-outs.
  • Position requires occasional travel, sometimes overnight, and attendance of training will be required.
  • Housing is not available at this time.
