The 55ip Portfolio Oversight team manages and oversees 55ip's portfolio implementation and tax management capabilities across ETF/Mutual Fund model portfolios, unified managed accounts (UMAs), and active SMAs. 55ip is a tax management-focused investment technology platform powering over $130B in assets and is part of J.P. Morgan Asset Management's Customized Management Account Solutions business.

Job summary:  

As a (junior) Vice President, Portfolio Oversight, you will oversee the day-to-day execution and governance of client portfolios on the 55ip platform, with a focus on delivering intended investment and tax outcomes at scale. You will serve as a subject matter expert and partner closely with Product, Technology, Quantitative Research & Development, Operations, and client teams to support reporting, analysis, platform enhancements, and strategic initiatives. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day implementation of tax-optimized client portfolios, ensuring consistent, scalable processes that balance investment objectives and tax outcomes
  • Provide ongoing oversight of the portfolio implementation and tax-management platform, identifying enhancement opportunities and partnering with Technology, Research, Product, Operations, and client teams to improve systematic processes and controls
  • Produce, analyze, and present platform-level oversight reporting (e.g. implementation quality, tax outcomes, drift, risk exposures) to internal stakeholders and enterprise clients
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses related to portfolio implementation, tax outcomes, and client-specific constraints, translating findings into actionable recommendations
  • Maintain practical expertise in 55ip's implementation solutions, proprietary optimizer, and offering set across supported businesses and account types
  • Partner cross-functionally with Quantitative R&D, Product, Technology, Operations, and client-facing teams to support new features, onboarding, issue resolution, and strategic initiatives

Required qualifications, skills and capabilities: 

  • 6+ years experience in an Investment and/or Wealth Management environment, particularly with a focus on SMA portfolio management, investment oversight/governance, quantitative investment solutions, and/or wealth management platform/tech experience
  • Strong data and analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of ETFs, mutual funds, model-portfolios, separately managed accounts, unified managed accounts/households, and tax management strategies (e.g. tax loss harvesting, wash sale rule, portfolio transitions, gains budget) 
  • Familiarity with portfolio optimization and implementation toolsets (e.g., optimizers, risk models, rebalancing frameworks, tax-lot methodologies, market data solutions)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment

Preferred qualifications, skills and capabilities:

  • CFA (or substantial progress toward CFA)
  • Experience applying analytics and automation (e.g., Python, scripting, AI/low-code tools) to improve reporting, controls, and process efficiency.
