Job description

 POSITION: Solid Waste Supervisor SEASON: March - April LOCATION: Port Hueneme, California SECTOR/DEPT: Six Mile, LLC Antarctica ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Solid Waste Supervisor oversees operations and the workflow of the department. The supervisor is responsible for the organization of solid-waste operations, ensuring that applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are being followed, and that safety standards are being met. The supervisor will maintain and update the Solid Waste Tracking spreadsheet and ensure quality control of the data being inputted. Depending on the skill set of the Waste Stream Coordinator's, the supervisor might be coordinating daily tasking. The supervisor must have the proper training and be familiar with the established protocol for solid-waste activities. Responsible for the safe and technically proficient operation of equipment such as; articulating loaders, graders, fork-lifts, tracked agricultural tractors, dump-trucks, excavators, etc. Performs daily equipment checks to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition

 Complies with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.  Performs physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of tall vehicles and heavy equipment, crawling as needed, working outdoors in extreme conditions, and walking long distances daily. And manual labor as required.

 As needed, accurately records time worked, and equipment hours used in Maximo. Performs other duties as required. Reports to Program Manager REQUIREMENTS Willingness and ability to deploy to Port Hueneme, California is required. Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum. Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors. Must participate in community programs, such as "house-mouse" (chores), "daisy-picking" (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts & safety objectives. PREFERRED Familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent is strongly preferred. CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Valid Driver's license required. Class A or B CDL preferred. OTHER: US citizenship or permanent residency required. A prerequisite of employment for this position is to successfully gain a favorable Elevated Background Investigation (EBI) result prior to deployment. Candidates hired for this position will be required to complete; online forms, written forms, fingerprint cards and provide additional details and information as requested by National Science Foundation (NSF) Personnel Security office
