Overview

M&J Engineering, D.P.C. (M&J) is a quality provider of multi-disciplined consulting services. ย Since its inception in 2004, M&J has grown into diversified provider of construction management, construction inspection, engineering, technology, and environmental services to a broad range of clients, including federal, state and city/local agencies, private owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.

M&J is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead structural engineering and bridge design projects throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. This position is responsible for project management, technical leadership, staff supervision, client coordination, and business development activities. The successful candidate will maintain technical excellence while managing project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client relationships.

Salary: $130,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Provide structural design expertise and lead projects throughout DMV areas
  • Oversee all design and inspection activity from structural project engineers, design engineers, and CADD technicians, as well as, coordinate design with other disciplines on a variety of structures and bridge related projects
  • Lead in QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work in conformance with company and department standards and guidelines
  • Maintain technical design knowledge and expand capabilities through attendance or membership with various engineering committees or organizations
  • Responsible for project billing, budget management, scheduling, preparing scope and task proposals, technical writing, man-hour estimates, man-power projections, and client and sub-consultant management
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and subconsultants through excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of structural engineering experience.
  • Previous project management and staff supervision experience preferred.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in DC, Maryland, or Virginia, or ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • Completion of NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges or NHI 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher Training preferred.
  • Experience delivering bridge and transportation structure projects for DOTs, DPWs, municipalities, counties, or other public agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO design specifications and transportation structure design standards.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis, design, and drafting software.
  • Demonstrated expertise in steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Strong project management, budget management, and client management skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Experience supporting business development and proposal efforts is highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and build strong working relationships across all project stakeholders.
