Job description

The Position The Port of Portland is hiring for a PDX Maintenance Electrician (Graveyard/Swing Shift). From ground power units to airfield lighting, the PDX Maintenance Electricians keep the lights on at PDX. The successful candidate will maintain the electrical supply throughout the airport by replacing and repairing when needed.

This includes maintaining the lighting on the airfields. Hours are set by seniority shift bid per the labor agreement. Shifts may include one weekend day; the successful candidate must be available to work a set day, swing, or graveyard shift.

Most likely, the successful candidate will work a graveyard/or swing shift: Wednesday - Saturday. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). From the hiring manager: "Help keep the lights on at PDX.

Join our team of electricians working in a fast paced, fun environment. Get the opportunity to work on a variety of systems including the airfield!" Essential Job Duties Maintain Electrical supply throughout the Airport systems including but not limited to pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators. Conduct maintenance of electrical distribution systems ranging in voltages from 15kV.

Trouble-shoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic, PLC programming. Respond to equipment malfunction. Minimum Qualifications Education & Experience: (Required) Four (4) years knowledge of PLC-based control systems.

Or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. (Preferred) Electronic schooling in controllers, data-gathering, and/or solid-state controls. License or Certifications: (Required) General Journeyman or Plant Journeyman license.

(Required) Maintain a valid state driver's license. (Required) Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations. (Preferred) Class B commercial driver's license at time of hire.

OR the ability to obtain one within the probationary period. (Required) *All CDL training costs and licensing fees will be paid for by the Port of Portland. Demonstrated Skills & Abilities: Communicate ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Prioritize safety as a core value in all work activities. Proven team player who treats others with respect.

Capable of performing routine tasks requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and physical stamina. Able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team. Build and maintain positive working relationships with Port staff and PDX stakeholders.

Committed to inclusion and valuing individual differences. Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights. Able to follow instructions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Comfortable working among the traveling public and Airport tenants. Willing and able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
