Job description

About Populus

Populus is a new species of hospitality. Set in the heart of downtown Denver and inspired by Colorado's aspen groves, it is the nation's first carbon positive hotel, built on a simple belief that hospitality can give back more than it takes while thriving as a business. Design, culinary craft, community, and environmental stewardship are not separate programs here. They work together as a single considered whole, and our mission is to restore balance for life to thrive.

About the Role

Crescent Hotels and Resorts is seeking a General Manager to lead Populus Denver. The role carries full profit and loss accountability for a landmark independent hotel. It also carries the stewardship of the

property itself, and the responsibility of seeing that its purpose is evident in daily operation, in every department and on every shift.

The General Manager we are seeking moves easily between RevPAR, EBITDA, and market share on one hand, and community partnership, associate development, and the sustainability commitments that define this property on the other. Both are held with equal seriousness, and neither is traded for the other.

The standard of service we lead to is expressed in a modern and personal way rather than a formal one. Warmth, curiosity and a genuine passion for placemaking and community are what set this hotel apart.

Leading Populus Denver

The General Manager of Populus leads commercial performance across budgeting, forecasting, revenue strategy, and expense discipline, in close partnership with Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Food and Beverage leadership. The aim is a stronger position in the Denver market and proof that hospitality and sustainability can be profitable together.

The General Manager builds and develops a visionary executive team, creates the conditions in which associates grow and choose to stay, and works alongside People and Culture on hiring, engagement, and leadership development. Time on the floor is essential to the job, rather than an addition to it.

Beyond the property, the General Manager represents Populus with ownership, community organizations, environmental partners, and local businesses. Compliance with company policy, brand standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local law sits with this role as well.

Our Nature

Populus’ mission is to restore balance for life to thrive, and we seek a partner who is eager to shape this vision. We value leaders who:

● Practice authentic curiosity, seeking deeper insights to continuously improve the guest experience.

● Lead with generosity, prioritizing the long-term well-being of our associates, guests, and community.

● Demonstrate principled bravery, fostering transparency and accountability in every decision.

● Champion sustainable stewardship and always remaining rooted in nature, meaningfully connecting our property to the local culture, arts, and environment.

What You Bring

You bring at least five years as a General Manager in a full-service lifestyle, luxury, or upscale hotel, with a record of balancing financial results and guest satisfaction. Experience leading independent or highly experiential properties is valuable here, as is a working relationship with ownership groups and asset managers.

You are a disciplined operator with real conviction about environmental stewardship and purpose driven hospitality, and you have built culture and engagement in an organization where that work was taken seriously. A bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

What Crescent Offers

Crescent offers executive compensation with incentive plan eligibility, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for eligible associates and their families, a 401(k) program with company match, paid time off, and travel discounts at Crescent managed properties throughout North America.

If you lead with both discipline and care, and you believe a hotel can be commercially strong and genuinely meaningful at the same time, welcome to a new species of hospitality. We welcome the conversation.
