Rate of pay: $15.50 – $17.00. Final compensation is based on factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established emergency action plans and expectations within the written Aquatic Safety Plan
2. Ensure compliance of all Ellis & Associates policies, procedures & best practices relating to lifeguard duties.
a. Document attendance & participation in required branch drills and ensure Ellis & Associates compliance by meeting regular in-service training and vigilance test compliance.
3. Act in a leadership role in the absence of Aquatic Leadership or Aquatic Supervisors
a. Ensure all aquatic team members conduct & responsibilities occur as expected.
b. Support all aquatic team members with their regular duties and support difficult situations or medical emergencies.
c. Close the pool if conditions are unsafe.
d. Communicate regularly with Aquatic Leadership regarding any facility, member, or staff concerns.

4. Ensure compliance of YMCA of Delaware Aquatic Policies, Procedures & Best Practices
5. Ensure compliance with YMCA of Delaware Personnel Policies, Procedures & Employee Handbook.
6. Ensure compliance with YMCA of Delaware Time & Attendance Policies & Procedures
7. Ensure facility access and membership procedures are executed correctly at all aquatic facility access points
8. Ensure cleaning procedures are followed consistently in all areas of the aquatic facility including but not limited to the pool, pool deck, furnishings, bathhouse, welcome areas, employee spaces, etc.
9. Respond to difficult situations with empathy and understanding during any emergency or member need.
10. Ensure all scheduled shifts are covered appropriately and step into the front line if needed to ensure operations and programs are not interrupted.
11. Support local Aquatic Leadership with any other assigned duties.
12. Able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• One year or more of lifeguard experience.
• Must be able to obtain Ellis & Associates ILTP Lifeguard Certification and ability to hold necessary certifications for teaching swim lessons or coaching swim team.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
