JOB TITLE: Pool Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Pool Manager, Assistant General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Pool
LOCATION: The Union League Golf Club at Torresdale (3801 Grant Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19114)
This is a seasonal position Memorial Day to Labor Day, Tuesday-Sunday
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pool Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the pool facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and highly engaging member experience. This role oversees lifeguard staff, facility readiness, and aquatics operations while also managing all Food & Beverage service at the pool, including bar operations, inventory control, and service execution.
The Pool Supervisor plays a key role in delivering a hospitality-driven experience by maintaining strong visibility on the deck, supporting team members, and ensuring all service and facility standards are consistently met.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility & Operations Management:
  • Oversee the daily setup and breakdown of the pool facility, ensuring readiness for service each day
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment across the entire pool complex
  • Monitor pool conditions, including water chemistry, and ensure all logs and compliance standards are met
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and communicate repair needs promptly
  • Support seasonal opening, closing, and winterization of the pool facility

Food & Beverage Operations
  • Oversee all poolside Food & Beverage service, including bar operations
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of all beverage products; conduct regular counts and communicate ordering needs
  • Ensure bar is properly stocked, organized, and operating efficiently at all times
  • Maintain knowledge of the pool menu and ensure staff can accurately communicate offerings to members
  • Support service execution, including understanding seat numbers and table flow to ensure accurate and timely service
  • Collaborate with culinary and management teams on menu updates, specials, and service improvements
  • Ensure all alcohol service is compliant with RAMP certification standards

Staff Leadership & Development:
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of pool and lifeguard staff
  • Supervise daily staff performance, including rotations, breaks, and assignments
  • Provide clear direction through opening, closing, and daily checklists
  • Maintain a positive, team-oriented environment with a strong focus on accountability and service
  • Coach staff on safety, service standards, and member engagement

Member Experience & Safety
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests
  • Enforce all pool rules, policies, and procedures in a professional manner
  • Maintain a visible presence on the pool deck to engage with members and anticipate needs
  • Respond to and manage emergency situations in accordance with established protocols
  • Deliver a high level of hospitality that aligns with club standards

Facility Cleanliness & Coordination
  • Ensure pool deck, seating areas, and service stations remain clean and well-maintained throughout the day
  • Assist with the upkeep and cleanliness of locker rooms
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to address cleanliness standards and respond to problem areas in real time

Programming & Events
  • Assist in the planning and execution of pool programs, activities, and special events
  • Collaborate with management and marketing teams to promote events and seasonal offerings
  • Contribute ideas for food and beverage features and poolside activities

Administrative & Strategic Support
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning in partnership with senior leadership
  • Maintain accurate records related to pool operations, staffing, and inventory
  • Support departmental initiatives, including technology, communications, and process improvements

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (preferred)
  • CPR / First Aid / AED Certification (preferred)
  • RAMP Certification required
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage service operations
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, member-focused environment
  • Professional demeanor with a strong hospitality mindset
  • Working knowledge of POS systems
