PROLIM is currently seeking a Production Painter 1 for one of our top clients, Northrop Grumman Corporation, in San Diego, California.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading aerospace and defence company supporting mission-critical space and defence programs. As a Production Painter, you'll become part of the Paint/Wet Chemistry Department, where you'll apply protective and decorative coatings to advanced aerospace structures while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply primers, paints, and specialty coatings to aerospace parts, assemblies, and finished products using spray equipment.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, masking, sanding, and priming prior to painting.
  • Mix paints, primers, enamels, lacquers, and other coating materials according to specifications.
  • Apply coatings using spray guns, brushes, or rollers as required.
  • Ensure coating thickness, finish quality, and appearance meet engineering and customer specifications.
  • Inspect painted components and verify compliance with quality standards and process requirements.
  • Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain paint equipment, spray booths, and work areas in clean and safe operating condition.
  • Support production schedules while meeting quality and productivity goals.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or commercial painting.
  • Experience operating spray paint equipment.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation techniques including sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming.
  • Ability to mix paints and coatings according to specifications.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work onsite in San Diego, CA.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Aerospace manufacturing or aviation painting experience.
  • Experience applying primers, epoxies, polyurethane, or specialty aerospace coatings.
  • Familiarity with paint thickness gauges and coating inspection methods.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
