This role will primarily support our QUIKRETE® and Custom® Building Products product lines.
What You'll Do
As a pivotal member of our Research and Development team, you will take a hands-on approach to evaluating novel materials and advancing product formulations, driving our mission to accelerate innovation and deliver smarter solutions.
  • Plan, execute, analyze, and report experimental lab work, leading to new products based on reactive chemistries, including epoxies.
  • Contribute to multifunctional teams (including manufacturing, technical service, QA/QC, product management) to ensure successful execution of R&D projects from concept to commercialization, including scale-up.
  • Evaluate prototypes with Technical Services and Customers to validate expected market success of concepts.
  • Assess competitive products and alternative epoxy technologies.

What We're Looking For
We believe that meaningful impact is driven by a strong technical foundation, relentless curiosity, and a drive to learn. While advanced degrees are welcome, they are not a prerequisite for success in this role.
Education & Experience
  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Polymer and/or Material Science is required.
  • 3-5+ years of industrial formulation of polymer-based coatings, adhesives, sealants and eleastomeric products is a must.
  • Experience in reactive chemistries, such as epoxies, urethanes, phenolics, polyaspartics and/or sil(ox)anes is desired.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing commercially successful products.
  • Experience and basic understanding of manufacturing scale-up processes and construction industry practices is desired.

Expected Competencies
  • A talent for solving problems; use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions
  • Able to work with a diverse group of people in multifunctional teams
  • Self-starting with a drive to overachieve
  • Excellent written and oral communication

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, grasping, and fine motor manipulation.

  • Ability to safely carry up to 25 lbs., lift/lower up to 50 lbs., and push/pull up to 100 lbs. (with material handling equipment assistance).
  • Potential (non-local) travel up to 50%
