Job Description

Duration: 12 Months+ Contract

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position will provide laboratory testing and data analysis support to staff engineers. The position will have an emphasis in mechanical testing, polymers characterization, materials testing, microscopy and data analysis. This person will work closely with their supervisor on projects and tasks involving characterizing new materials and devices, as well as supplier development.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform hands-on laboratory work and data analysis under the direction of staff engineers, including fatigue, optical microscopy, polymer analysis and sample preparation.
  • Provide input regarding test observations and data analysis
  • Assist in refining methods for testing medical device components.
  • Prepare samples for characterization testing, such as polymer oxidation or metal corrosion.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE 7+

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Experience in mechanical testing, specifically fatigue
Experience in optical microscopy
Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with metallography
Experience with electrical testing
Experience working with chemicals

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MOBILITY/DEXTERITY:
Bend/Stoop/Kneel-2-4 hours per day Stand/Sit/Walk - 4-6 hours per day
LIFTING:
Lifting - 10-20 pounds
VISION:
Microscope/fine close work up to 8 hours per day

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Completion of an associate degree in materials science, mechanical or an associated technical program. Other basic sciences will be considered if accompanied by relevant experience.
