The Department

Science-based knowledge and practical solutions to our environmental challenges are at the heart of our program. With the support of faculty and opportunities to do field research in Cal Poly Humboldt's ecologically diverse region, students will explore the relationships between people and the natural world.  Our Bachelor of Science degree program explores the interactions between the biological and physical world, human institutions, and human behavior. Students choose one of five concentrations that will allow them to discover the intricate balance of people and nature through multiple disciplines.

Lecture - Minimum Qualifications

Degree: MA/MS in appropriate field. For some subject areas, a BA/BS in appropriate field with relevant academic or professional experience will be considered.

Experience: Academic or professional work related to appropriate field.

Preferred qualifications include successful teaching experience, relevant training or experience to teach the specific course, area of specialization, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.

Lab Instructor - Minimum Qualifications

Degree: BA/BS in appropriate field is required.

Experience: Successful teaching experience, academic or professional work related to appropriate field.

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience.

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

Lecturer A $5,507 - $6,677

Lecturer B $6,221 - $13,224

Lecturer C $6,825 - $14,523

Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
