What is a political science intern?
A Political Science Intern assists with research, data analysis, and administrative tasks related to government, policy, and political affairs. Interns may work for government agencies, think tanks, nonprofits, or political campaigns. Responsibilities can include drafting reports, attending meetings, and supporting advocacy efforts. This role provides hands-on experience in public policy, governance, and political processes. It is a great opportunity to build professional networks and develop analytical and communication skills.
What types of projects or tasks does a political science intern typically work on during their internship?
Political Science Interns often assist with research on legislation, policy analysis, drafting reports, and preparing briefing materials for senior staff. They may also attend meetings, summarize key points, and help track current political events or policy developments. Interns frequently collaborate with other team members, supporting advocacy efforts and participating in outreach initiatives. This hands-on experience provides valuable exposure to the inner workings of government agencies, think tanks, or advocacy organizations, laying a strong foundation for future careers in public policy or government.

These skills ensure the intern can effectively contribute to research projects, manage information, and work collaboratively within policy-driven environments.
