Job description

Position Summary:

Maintains a safe and secure environment for college students, faculty, staff and visitors by patrolling campus(es) to prevent crime, protecting life and property, preserving peace, and assisting law enforcement officers in their investigations of offenses at the College.

Job Duties:

Job dutiesare dependent upon the department to which the officer is assigned. Examples of general job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Motor and foot patrols to check campus buildings, parking lots and grounds.
  • Unlocks and secures buildings, classrooms and offices.
  • Sets various alarms in buildings.
  • Enforces parking, traffic regulations and prepares incident reports.
  • Unlocks and secures buildings, classrooms and offices.
  • Monitors access control, video surveillance cameras, threat intelligence, event management, parking, and interoperability with mutual aid first responders.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required, including applying first aid and CPR, and monitoring CCTV.
  • Assists students, visitors and College personnel.
  • May provide supervision for contractual security, etc.

Required Qualifications:

The position requires either (1) vocational or technical school beyond High School/GEDequivalent and at least one year of security guard or law enforcement experience, or (2) at least an associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. In addition, requires a current: (1) Florida Class D security license, (2)CPRand first aid certification*, and (3) Florida driver's license. *CPR Certification must be obtained within first 30 days of employment if candidate is not certified at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree, two years of experience and a Security Class-D license is preferred. Bilingualin Spanish & Englishis a plus,but not required.
