Overview
The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating point-of-care services as well as performing the duties of a Medical Technologist. The Point of Care Coordinator oversees the daily operations of Point of Care testing on the nursing units and other departments of the hospital and assists in ensuring that all moderate and waived testing meets CAP accreditation requirements for quality control, proficiency testing, documentation, competency, and correlation. Coordinates training and competency assessments; develops and maintains teaching and assessment materials and conducts training of new and existing personnel as well as students on all ancillary/bed-side testing methods. Participates in inspection readiness and tracer activities for regulatory and accreditation agencies.
What you will do
  • Oversees the daily operations of Point of Care testing on the nursing units and other departments of the hospital
  • Assists in ensuring that all moderate and waived testing meets CAP accreditation requirements for quality control, proficiency testing, documentation, competency, and correlation.
  • Performs routine maintenance of departmental equipment and procedures to include inventory control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for performing the duties of a Medical Technologist.
  • Coordinates training and competency assessments; develops and maintains teaching and assessment materials. Conducts training of new and existing personnel as well as students on all ancillary/bed-side testing methods.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Participates in inspection readiness and tracer activities for regulatory and accreditation agencies. The position participates in all aspects of Proficiency testing and in maintaining a constant state of readiness in the department to meet all Standards for accreditation from College of American Pathologist (CAP), DNV, State, OSHA, CLIA, etc.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelors Degree, Clinical Lab Science or equivalent degree in health science (Required)

Experience
  • 2 years Clinical laboratory experience with emphasis on skills related to Point of Care testing (Required)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Medical Technologist (MT) - The ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent certification Upon Hire(Required)
