As a Media Producer, you'll lead video productions from concept to completion, support state-of-the-art recording facilities, and help bring educational stories and ideas to life through compelling digital media.
In this role, you'll serve as a trusted consultant and creative partner, supporting video production, studio operations, training, and multimedia technology initiatives that advance Duke's educational mission. Whether you're producing instructional videos, supporting podcast recordings, or helping faculty develop innovative course content, your work will have a direct impact on learning experiences across the university.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Media Technology, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience producing, supporting, or training users on multimedia technologies, preferably in higher education, instructional technology, or a related environment.
  • Experience leading all phases of video production, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Experience with studio and on-location videography.
  • Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar platforms.
  • Experience creating graphics, motion graphics, animations, and other multimedia assets.
  • Knowledge of media asset management, video encoding, transcoding, and content delivery workflows.
  • Familiarity with web-based media publishing platforms such as YouTube.
  • Experience supporting web conferencing and collaboration technologies such as Zoom.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of macOS and digital media production environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with distributed media storage systems and media asset management platforms.
  • Knowledge of media recording, streaming, and distribution systems used within higher education environments.
  • Experience supporting academic technology, instructional media, online learning, or educational content development initiatives.
  • Experience creating instructional resources, training materials, and multimedia documentation.
  • Familiarity with emerging media technologies and digital learning tools.

Work Arrangement
  • Onsite. The work is primarily performed on-site and includes support of recording studios, production facilities, and academic media projects.

Be Bold.
What You'll Do
  • Lead all phases of video production, including planning, recording, editing, publishing, and distribution of multimedia content.
  • Serve as the primary videographer for studio and location-based productions that support teaching, learning, research, and outreach initiatives.
  • Create engaging graphics, animations, motion graphics, and other visual assets that enhance educational content and storytelling.
  • Manage media assets, video encoding workflows, content organization, and digital delivery processes.
  • Maintain and support recording equipment, production studios, podcast facilities, and multimedia technologies.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure reliable operation of media production systems and workflows.
  • Consult with faculty, staff, and students on media design, recording, editing, accessibility, and distribution best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training, workshops, documentation, and instructional resources that promote effective use of media technologies.
  • Partner with academic departments and university programs to plan and execute high-impact multimedia projects.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and customer expectations are met.
