Job Description
The School of Media Arts and Studies (MDIA) at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Professor specializing in audio and video podcasting production and technology. This position will deliver a robust slate of undergraduate courses and experiential learning in audio and video storytelling, provide strategic leadership for the Scripps Podcasting Certificate, and will oversee courses that incorporate professional podcast development and production partnerships.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:
• Teach undergraduate courses in podcasting production, narrative audio storytelling, and advanced documentary storytelling, as well as develop and teach a new required Intro to Digitality course.
• Serve as Director of the Scripps Podcasting Certificate, including program development, promotion, and recruitment across the university.
• Develop and manage experiential learning opportunities, providing students with applied experience in podcast creation, production, and distribution.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and community organizations to develop high-impact, hands-on learning experiences.
• Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the continued innovation of the school's course offerings.
• Engage with alumni, industry professionals, and prospective employers to strengthen the school's professional network in the podcasting and broadcast media industries.
This is not a remote position. All faculty are expected to provide service to the school, the Scripps College of Communication, and Ohio University, and to maintain an active level of professional and creative activity in their field.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A terminal degree (Ph.D., MFA, or equivalent) in media, communication, journalism, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in podcasting, radio broadcasting, and affiliated audio and video storytelling.
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience.
  • Proven record of creative or professional activity in broadcast media, podcasting, or audio/video storytelling, as well as community-based storytelling partnership

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with program coordination, including curriculum development. Familiarity with public media environments and experiential learning models.
