Job description

About the role
  • Global Ambassadors will be scheduled to work a set shift either in the Study Abroad Office or another location on campus (e.g. a BC Commons Table).
  • 4-10 hours per week
  • Global Ambassadors are NOT required to work during finals week or school breaks

Job Summary
Global Ambassadors (GAs) are vital to the success of the Study Abroad Office. They promote international education opportunities across Bethel's campus.
For each shift, GAs will be scheduled to complete a specific task/activity. Global Ambassador roles/tasks may include:
  • Peer Advising
    • Provide peer-to-peer advising based on firsthand experiences from your time abroad (could specialize in a particular geographic area, set of majors, third-party partner, etc.)
      • Program Searching
      • Scholarships
  • Engage in student outreach, active recruitment, and general clerical support
  • Host "Coffee Conversations" to chat with interested and/or returning study abroad students
  • Classroom presentations
  • Administrative tasks
    • Answer phone and voicemails
    • Maintain study-abroad email inbox
    • Greet visitors and serve as a first point of contact for faculty, staff, and student walk-ins
    • Work on spreadsheets and other data entry
    • Assist with application management in Via (updating application statuses, sending email updates to students, etc.)
  • Assisting with events
    • Track registrations
    • Day-of set up and takedown
    • Participate in panels
    • Interact with attendees
  • Hosting/recording the #BethelAbroad Podcast
  • Graphic design
    • Create social media and online marketing content
    • Create print content (such as posters and brochures)
    • Examples of past projects have included:
      • Stickers
      • Logo design/branding
      • Course brochures for the Spring Study Abroad Fair
      • Social media content
      • Posters
      • Prints for the office
      • Bulletin board designs for the hallway
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Must be a current student at Bethel University
  • Enthusiastic about encouraging other students to study off campus
  • Excellent customer service
  • Dependable and consistent ability to work scheduled shifts
  • High degree of professionalism in conduct/office etiquette
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Timely and professional e-communication
