Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for an Internal Only: Sr Principal Systems Engineer - GAITS Analysis PO (26-350) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

This position requires daily technical and programmatic interactions with civilian, military, and contract leadership and technical personnel at MDA Facilities at the MDIOC and VB3, and at LM Offices in Colorado Springs, CO (Voyager and Federal Dr.) and Huntsville, AL. The candidate will engage with the C2BMC (Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications) Global system to provide technical support to Agile Product Teams and assessments.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary point of contact for C2BMC-G. Analysis topics to include interactions with MDIOC technical support provided by other Government-contracted entities, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Schedule lab tests and installation activities; coordinate with MDA BCD-E and the C2BMC-G Integration Team on release installation and integration schedules for the test labs
  • Key stakeholder in test lab build-out design meetings and design reviews
  • Collaborating with Tech Leads (SE, SWE, Deployment) and the Cross-Functional Product Team (CFPT) Product Owners to organize CFPT plans and workloads
  • The goal is to ensure optimal compliance with the CAM-provided Task Order baselines, including forecasting analysis needs, assessing analysis impacts, resolving issues, identifying and implementing efficiencies, and managing and briefing on status
  • Leading the resolution of technical Analysis issues
  • Execution of analysis tasks in accordance with program processes.
  • Identification of cost and technical risks to the CAM, TO PM, PO, and FAM, and the development and implementation of effective mitigation strategies
  • Assist the FAM with resource planning
  • Support for the JERB, JCCB, ROMB, and other boards as appropriate
  • Assistance with Task Order and customer reviews
  • Support the collection and analysis of metrics in accordance with the QMP

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Understanding the integration and testing of Command & Control systems, particularly those relevant to basic architectures used in the BMDS and in space environments, with an emphasis on C2BMC. This includes interfaces to external C2BMC elements and space sensors
  • Technical knowledge of computer network systems, servers, VMs, and multicast methods, including hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches, and blade servers
  • Demonstrated expertise in hardware and software analysis, covering requirements decomposition, test planning, test procedures, test reporting, regression testing, and test data analysis
  • Experience with the technical aspects of highly integrated, complex networked computer systems is essential
  • Must have knowledge of DoD/MDA testbed baseline concepts for analyzing hardware, software, and Cyber IA applications
  • Proficiency in using Windows, MS Office, or Linux products daily is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
  • Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
  • Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
  • Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret/SCI security clearance at the time of application are highly desired
  • Experience with Test Driven Development in Agile Environments
  • Knowledge and experience with DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, Test Management for JIRA (TM4J), or similar applications, and experience with test automation tools such as Gherkin and Cucumber
  • Knowledge of basic message formats, including TADIL-J, HTML, ATOMS, COI, and XML

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
