Description:
G-Net Construction is hiring an in-office, part-time Building Construction Estimator / Project Manager to work from our Staten Island office.

This is a combined position for someone with experience estimating and managing building construction and interior renovation projects. The ideal candidate can review plans, prepare estimates, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and help manage awarded projects from startup through completion.

Our projects include commercial interiors, schools, healthcare and medical facilities, nonprofit and human service facilities, senior care facilities, religious institutions, and facility renovations throughout New York City.

We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, communicates well, and can work independently while coordinating with our office and field teams.

Estimating Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complete construction estimates and quantity takeoffs.
  • Perform takeoffs using PlanSwift.
  • Obtain and compare subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for scope, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost breakdowns.
  • Attend pre-bid walkthroughs and perform field surveys.
  • Communicate with architects, clients, vendors, and subcontractors during bidding.
  • Maintain current labor and material pricing for future estimates.
  • Help track active bids, proposals, and follow-up items.

Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, and project schedules.
  • Review and process subcontractor proposals and change orders.
  • Assist with purchasing and material procurement.
  • Track submittals, shop drawings, approvals, and project documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare follow-up items.
  • Visit job sites to review progress and field conditions.
  • Coordinate with field supervisors regarding manpower, materials, and scheduling.
  • Communicate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and office staff.
  • Help identify project issues before they affect cost or schedule.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of building construction estimating and/or project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of multiple construction trades and commercial interior work.
  • Experience preparing construction estimates and takeoffs.
  • Working knowledge of PlanSwift or similar estimating software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related office software.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver’s license and own transportation for project visits.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage several projects or estimates at one time.
  • Must be able to work legally and strictly on the books.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience performing both estimating and project management is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with commercial interiors, schools, healthcare, nonprofit, senior care, or institutional projects is a plus.
  • Architecture, engineering, construction management, or building construction education is a plus.
  • Hands-on knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC work is a plus.
  • Existing relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers are a plus.
  • NYC construction and DOB process experience is a plus.

Growth Opportunity:
This position is intended for someone who can become an important part of G-Net’s estimating and project management operations. There is room for increased responsibility and potentially additional workdays as the company and project workload grow.

Our core values are Relationships, Quality, Teamwork, Learning, and Communication.
