What is a PMO analyst?

PMO stands for Project or Program Management Office, a department that oversees projects in a company. A PMO analyst tracks data that streams through the department and ensures that every phase of company projects run smoothly. As a PMO analyst, you examine reported data and determine whether or not the procedures used at the company should be improved to increase efficiency. You also monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within budget. Many who have several years of experience in project management move into this management position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PMO analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PMO Analyst, you need a solid understanding of project management methodologies, data analysis, and reporting, often supported by a degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, or Smartsheet, as well as certifications such as CAPM or PMP, is highly beneficial. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate stakeholders and manage project documentation effectively. These skills ensure the successful tracking, reporting, and delivery of projects in alignment with organizational goals.

What are the typical challenges PMO analysts face when supporting multiple projects simultaneously?

PMO Analysts often juggle several projects at once, which requires strong organizational and time management skills. One of the main challenges is ensuring consistent reporting and data accuracy across diverse teams and project managers, each with their own processes and priorities. Maintaining clear communication and proactively identifying risks or resource conflicts are essential to keep projects aligned with organizational goals. Adapting to shifting deadlines and priorities while upholding PMO standards can also be demanding, but it offers valuable experience in project governance and stakeholder management.

Job description

The PMO Analyst supports the program by keeping intake, tracking, and reporting clean and consistent across markets. This role works closely with Delivery Leads, Product Owners, and the central PMO to make sure requirements, dependencies, and status are captured once, kept current, and reported accurately. The focus is on execution support, not project management. At a min, this role supports 3-4 Delivery leads simultaneously and keeping things aligned and moving.

The candidate must be local to Dallas, Texas to work from HQ office 4 days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support onboarding of Delivery Leads joining the BYTE program using a standard onboarding kit. Provide Confluence page link for them to self-study, have them set meeting with you to go over unclear stuff or to answer questions.
  • Ensure kickoff and discovery activities for new markets follow a consistent process. This means the agenda, MoM template, the presentation decks have to be slightly customized for the new market (update brand etc) and set the Discovery team and the Global Delivery Lead (GDL) for success
  • Review the requirements doc, roadmap, architecture along with the GDL and Own requirements intake into Monday.com for Byte deliverables, including templates, uploads to Confluence, and entry into Jira Product Discovery (JPD).
  • Also, coordinate and upload all other non-byte requirements to Jira Boards for other development teams with a consistent label (KFC_AUS for KFC SPOAC market as an e.g.). Use the above label to create the integrated Jira Plan for all boards for the market.
  • Coordinate requirement approvals and ensure updates are reflected consistently across tools
  • Prepare and maintain Steering Committee materials, including decks and supporting data
  • Support program and product syncs by capturing updates and ensuring follow-ups are tracked
  • Track cross-market dependencies and issues and maintain a single consolidated view
  • Maintain program and portfolio status timeline-manager tool for leadership reporting and Steering Committee timeline views.
  • Support quarterly PI planning activities and preparation
  • Ensure Jira and JPD tickets are created, linked, updated, and aligned with Jira Plans

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $52.32/hour - $81.75/hour. Our offered benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
