Senior Technical Writer/Consultant, Post-Merger Integration (PMI)
Job summary:
The role of the Senior Technical Writer is important during the integration stage of an acquisition and is a key catalyst in creating clear, consistent and compelling communications for acquired employees, to ensure change adoption and integration success.
Wipro is seeking a senior and accomplished Technical Writer to join the PMI team in the M&A organization, to review and recraft standard policy documents to ensure that they are user-friendly and easy to understand, for acquired entity employees that are new to Wipro.
This position will report to the PMI Change Management Director (US) and work closely with PMI HR and IT functional leads to assist with creating and updating integration documents e.g., manuals, user guides, FAQs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the how these materials will be communicated to employees. Successful candidates must be extremely knowledgeable about writing standards and best practices; and possess solid technical writing and technical communication abilities.
This is an initial 6-month contract role with the potential to extend to 12 months.
Responsibilities and duties:
  • Draft or create new PMI documents to inform, illustrate or instruct acquired entity employees on the integration process
  • Work with PMI, HR and IT IS teams to identify documents that need recrafting and updating
  • Conduct a document gap analysis to identify missing HR and IT IS integration documents that need to be created
  • Work with any internal communication/governance parties to get their inputs on how documentation should look and how it should be reviewed to ensure uniformity in workflow and writing style
  • Develop a standard "look and feel" and way of communicating functional policy information for our entities
  • Ensure all documents are to a high quality of standard - content, grammar, spelling, graphics, branding and flow
  • Work with Change Management and PMI team to develop a review process for documentation
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives around organizing knowledge management for PMI
  • Make continual improvements to documents based on feedback and on your own judgment
  • Work with the PMI graphic designer and content writer to ensure all documents are high-impact content addressing the needs of acquired entity employees, including the use of strategic content such as videos, infographics and other visual images relevant to the subject matter

Professional Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years' experience in designing and developing technical writing deliverables and communication content and able to bring examples of their work to an interview.
The incumbent should possess:
  • Strong skill and experience in technical writing and technical communication
  • Exceptional written and verbal English skills, including editing skills
  • Strong critical, analytical, and correlative thinking
  • Ability to present messages in a visually appealing way
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and policy information in an easy-to-understand format
  • Experience in developing documentation sets and document libraries
  • Ability to establish and follow style and usage guidelines
  • A background in or knowledge of corporate communications (or similar) to understand review processes and governance
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
  • Ability to participate in documentation peer review process; review content written by peers and edit the work of others to ensure a uniform voice throughout all documents and products.

Qualifications:
  • BA/BSc Degree in Communication, Marketing, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications or other related English field or equivalent Technical Certification
  • Preferred background includes roles in technical writing, content design, instructional design, project management, business analysis, corporate or internal communications
  • Proven writing and content design skills
  • Outstanding creative writing and editing skills
