Job description

Individually and together, our employees are dedicated to satisfying the mission of our organization which is an unwavering commitment to excellence as we care for the sick and injured; educate physicians, nurses and other health care providers; and improve access to care in the communities we serve, regardless of a patient's ability to pay for health care.The Manager, SportsPlex & PLV Member Operations is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of all aspects related to the oversight of Pickleball Lehigh Valley operations, programming, and personnel, as well as the physical plant, facility operations, and day-to-day functioning of the St. Luke's SportsPlex.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee all pickleball and related programming at Pickleball Lehigh Valley (PLV) and within the SportsPlex, including open play, contract court time, clinics, leagues, tournaments, special events, and multi-use facility programming from inception to completion.

  • Develop and maintain proficiency in Court Reserve and other internal platforms to schedule programming, manage court and facility utilization, run reports, and collaborate efficiently with the Director of Operations and the SportsPlex Team.

  • Conduct regular forward-looking court and facility audits to ensure optimal utilization across all SportsPlex assets. Address "white space" by creating new, revenue-generating programs and adjusting schedules in coordination with programming and operations staff.

  • Track and analyze program, membership, and facility performance data on a monthly basis. Recommend innovative improvements to enhance programming, operational efficiency, and customer engagement across PLV and the SportsPlex.

  • Serve as the on-site ambassador for PLV and the SportsPlex, engaging with members, guests, and partners daily to build relationships, anticipate needs, and ensure high satisfaction. Manage walk-in inquiries and ensure a seamless onboarding experience through effective front desk and membership coordination.

  • Serve as a Brand Ambassador for PLV and the SportsPlex at tournaments, events, and community engagements, collaborating with internal and external marketing teams to enhance visibility, attract new participants, and strengthen community presence both online and in person.

  • In collaboration with Event and Education Coordinators, develop and maintain inclusive, skill-level-appropriate leagues and programs; evaluate instructors; coordinate internal and external partners; and build a network of certified coaches and service providers supporting racquet sports, fitness, and SportsPlex programming.

  • Ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and readiness across all SportsPlex areas by coordinating with outsourced vendors, operations staff, and front desk personnel. Partner with the Pro Shop and other vendors to maintain an up-to-date inventory of paddles, equipment, merchandise, and related offerings.

  • Lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle for direct reports, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and ongoing professional development in alignment with organizational values and service standards.

  • Ensure operational excellence by developing staff schedules, maintaining supply inventories, overseeing facility and equipment readiness, and managing administrative workflows such as timekeeping, licensing, reporting, and daily huddles that build team cohesion across PLV and SportsPlex staff.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be physically capable of the potentially strenuous activities typical of someone engaged in leading sports and facility-based programming. Must be able to effectively listen and communicate with people in-person, via email, telephone, or virtual platforms (Zoom/Microsoft Teams). Must be capable of using a computer keyboard. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive without restriction.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in management, human services, or related field required. A comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered. Extensive experience in Pickleball, including high-level playing proficiency and demonstrated success in coaching and instruction.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years of management experience required, with a strong preference for candidates with experience across business operations, facility management, programming, and financial oversight. Demonstrates high energy and a sincere commitment to engaging with members and guests in a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented manner. Understands and lives the PLV and SportsPlex core values and vision. Organized and detail-oriented. Proficient using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.). Proficient using CourtReserve and/or other booking systems. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to establish priorities and solve a wide range of business and operational challenges. Demonstrated customer service, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
