Job description

Overview
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Plumbing Designer to join a collaborative team focused on delivering innovative and code-compliant plumbing design solutions. This role involves working closely with project managers, field teams, and other design professionals to create and coordinate plumbing system layouts for commercial and mixed-use developments using AutoCAD and Revit.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in the California Plumbing Code, hands-on experience in plumbing layout and design, and a solutions-driven mindset.


What You’ll Be Doing
  • Interpret architectural and MEP drawings to set up and prepare 2D and 3D design files

  • Develop detailed plumbing system layouts, including isometrics, riser diagrams, and coordinated shop drawings using Revit and AutoCAD

  • Produce accurate documentation for fabrication and field installation, including schedules and annotated construction details

  • Evaluate system feasibility, clearances, and installation access during design reviews

  • Conduct take-offs and prepare material requisition lists for procurement teams

  • Partner with project managers and field supervisors to troubleshoot design issues and integrate real-world field constraints into final drawings

  • Participate in jobsite visits, verifying site conditions and supporting field coordination as needed

  • Track changes, update drawing sets, and issue revisions in coordination with construction progress

  • Maintain compliance with local building codes and internal QA/QC standards

  • Provide ongoing technical input to ensure smooth handoffs between design, prefabrication, and field operations


What You Bring
  • 5+ years of plumbing design experience in commercial or multifamily construction

  • Strong working knowledge of California Plumbing Codes and current industry best practices

  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit in a fast-paced design environment

  • Ability to translate architectural intent into fully coordinated plumbing designs

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across design, construction, and field teams

  • Field plumbing background or jobsite experience is a major plus

  • Valid California Driver’s License and ability to travel to project sites when needed
