Job description

#jobalert | DIRECT HIRE | Plumbing Inspector | Corpus Christi Area (Field-Based)

A Texas-based municipal services firm with active contracts across the state is adding a licensed Plumbing Inspector to support a residential inspection program in the Corpus Christi area. This is a field-based role — you'll manage a pre-scheduled inspection calendar across residential new construction sites and wrap up reporting from home. No office to report to. You're the expert on the ground, and you'll be treated like one. If you hold your TSBPE license, have solid residential inspection experience, and want out of the government pay scale without giving up meaningful work, this is worth a conversation.

  • $70K–$85K annually, based on experience and certifications
  • Health, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) with 5% dollar-for-dollar company match
  • Unlimited PTO (restrictions apply) and 13 paid holidays
  • Company vehicle with all expenses covered (gas, maintenance)
  • Company-provided laptop and iPad
  • Clear path to Senior Inspector or Building Official roles, with company-sponsored certifications
  • Open to candidates within 90 mile radius of Corpus Christi, TX

Overview:

  • Conduct daily plumbing inspections on residential new construction sites across a defined service area — water supply, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, gas piping, and related systems.
  • Work from a pre-scheduled digital inspection calendar; manage 15–20 inspections per day across active subdivision projects.
  • Verify that installations meet approved plans, applicable plumbing codes, and applicable safety standards — and document findings accurately in company software.
  • Serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for contractors and builders; answer code questions professionally and represent the company well in every site interaction.
  • Complete inspection reports in a timely and professional manner; use company-provided technology for all scheduling, documentation, and reporting.

Preferred Skills/Experiences:

  • TSBPE Plumbing Inspector License required — Texas state license, no exceptions.
  • Minimum 2 years of plumbing inspection experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and plumbing plans required.
  • ICC certification(s) strongly preferred — Residential Building Inspector (B1), Plumbing Inspector (P1), Combination Inspector, or equivalent.
  • Residential new construction inspection background strongly preferred; subdivision-scale projects a plus.
  • Experience with field inspection software or mobile reporting tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in a field-based role without daily in-office oversight.
  • Professional communication and contractor-relations skills.
